Exciting changes are happening for the Panels Plus team! As Panels Plus continues to grow, more space is needed for production and operations. We recently entered a 3-year lease and gained possession of a new facility based here in Albert Lea, MN in July. We will be leasing a space approximately 37,000 square feet and a few office spaces in what is known as “The Streater Building.”
What once was a manufacturing facility for custom retail merchandising and display systems, permanently closed a few years ago, leaving the space vacant. The property owners are now renting out multiple spaces within the large facility, and we will be the first organization to lease a spot.
Making the Move
Our team has already been hard at work in preparation for our move. There is quite a bit of maintenance and work that has been completed, and more that still needs to be done before we’re able to fully move in. Updates to the electrical, lights, and air, among other updates are also being made.
“It is our intent is to begin moving the Panels Plus welding, fabrication, warehouse, and raw material inventory first, with electrical, assembly, office, and all remaining areas in a second phase,” stated Mark Jasperson, Panels Plus Manufacturing Manager.
Impact on Panels Plus
In addition to more space, the Panels Plus team will have access to two, 5-ton overhead cranes, and an inside dock for loading and unloading. This will allow our team to move and load our wall panel and floor cassette equipment more easily. “Moving over to the Streater building will give us more square footage and assembly space. This has been much-needed, especially with the new MiTek projects that our team recently took on,” stated Jeff Brown, Panels Plus Product Manager.
We’re excited to move into a larger space and also be closer to two of our sister companies, Lou-Rich and ALMCO. We’ll have more updates once we’re fully moved in.
